XL Tillandsia Tectorum Ecuador Air Plants

One of the most sought-after Tillandsia that we have!  An adorable easy-care plant. The trichomes create a bright white appearance. The inflorescence (spike) is purple with lavender blooms.

Tillandsia Tectorum likes to be misted lightly daily in drier climate if there isn’t sufficient dew in the morning or a mild level of humidity. It needs to dry rather quickly so a light to medium mist is sufficient. It does not do well in high heat with heavy humidity since it needs to dry sufficiently. Make sure it gets lots of air circulation if outdoors in humid conditions. 

Air plants are unique in that they absorb water and nutrients from their leaves, not the roots. Filtered, well or rain water is best. Municipal water with chlorine may be harmful. Avoid distilled water as the nutrients have been removed. Provide bright indirect light- indirect sunlight is best but bright artificial light is also sufficient.

Keep in mind that the care routine will vary upon species and the home environment! Monitor your plants and adjust accordingly. Do not put your air plants in soil or let them sit in water for any extended period of time.
